BOOKS!

I love to listen to books on tape.

I've been listening to a horrible one, and now I'm listening to a classic one.

Additionally I listen to the Book of Mormon a little every day.

And also, the new book SAINTS; I've listened to Volume one and am listening again.  Then I will listen to Volume Two.

But, the point is, I love books.

Some authors just thrill me with their words and they way they put them together.

I am so very grateful that i love reading and have access to books.

President Nelson's Challenge

President Nelson asked us to ponder and write the answers to these questions.

Since I want to follow the prophet, I am going to do that now:

1. What would your life be like without the Book of Mormon?
That is hard to answer because it is and has been such an integral part of my entire life, but It think I would not be a member of the church.  I would likely live a non-religious life, and I would not feel much purpose to my life.

2.  What would you not know?
I would not know about the Atonement, more about the Saviour than is found in the Bible, baptism of infants and how wrong it is, that the Saviour visited the Americas, how America is the promised land. That Columbus was led by God to find this land, that the founding fathers were led by God.

3.  What would you not have?
The sure knowledge that families can be together forever.  The plan of happiness and salvation.  An interest in family history.  Good people in my life.  Even the community where I live is based on the Gospel; Allen's job, which continues to proved us with an income.  I have so much because of the Book of Mormon.

WOW!  I'm grateful for this opportunity to express my feelings about the Book of Mormon, which I love, honor and try to read every day!

Sons of the Utah Pioneers

I looked around the room.

99% had grey hair; lots of glasses on the noses; wrinkled faces.

But, you see, these are the BEST of the BEST.

These are the men and women who have worked hard all their lives, have lived good lives filled with integrity and service to community, family, and God.

I was overwhelmed with such a sense of gratitude for these wonderful people sitting in that room.

And, I am grateful for that organization that gathers them all together.

The Gift of the Holy Ghost

I don't follow it often enough.

But, here's an experience I just had....

I've been listening to the Old Testament while I exercise.  I'm sorry to say that it has NOT been an entirely good thing.  In fact, a little of the opposite.  It is a brutal book.  But, I had decided to plow thru it.

At the gym on Friday, however, the little voice said to me, "Maybe at this point in getting ready for the 200th anniversary of the church, your time would be better spent in listening to THE SAINTS, a two volume recently put out by the church."

The prophet has asked us to get ready for this special conference, so in preparation for tat event, I am putting a push on the Old Testament, and listening to the SAINTS - a History.

So far, it has been much more powerful and inspiring.

And, I'm grateful for that little nudge of inspiration.

And, just a note...

I love our church!

The Book of Mormon

I listen to some of the book every day.  I do NOT miss many days.

It thrills me....not the war chapters, of which there are many, but the wisdom of the prophets.

Life kicks a person in the teeth, so I love having a safe place to go and get inspiration.
