2015 - A Good Year

It was a good year.

I'm thankful.

We did a home exchange to Germany.

We stayed in Manila, Utah and met some mighty fine folk.

We had a fantastic family gathering in Rexburg, Idaho in July.

Our health is still okay.

And, I am so incredibly grateful.

Stability

The entire world seems to be at unrest; at war; on the fringes.

But, here in this little corner of the world,

There is peace and stability.

And, I am grateful.

Christmas Season

I can't explain it, but I have felt so much

JOY

This season....

for our wonderful, thoughtful, caring family,

for the SAVIOUR,

for life,

for our home,

for the Gospel.

I am filled with gratitude.

Families

Last night, we spent the evening at Gardner's home....for dinner and afterwards, a little music.

It was so delightful.

I love all those 8 little kids of Nathaniel's and Gardner's.

I just felt peace and joy.

I am grateful.

He turned 12 and received the Priesthood yesterday.



Oh, yes, I am grateful for that.

What a dear heart our daughter-in-law is.

And, I am grateful.

IT's Sunday, and I just went shopping...not so good possibly.

I love to listen to books on tape while walking, exercising, cleaning, etc.

I just finished listening to A Christmas Carol, and am currently listening to The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

It's especially fun to listen to a book with a good reader.

And, I am grateful.

Windows - From Eli

About a week ago, a lady was telling me how dark and gloomy her home is.

She wishes she had lights and WINDOWS.

So, today when Eli said windows, I realized that that was something I'm so very grateful for.

Our home has lovely big windows, with lots of natural light.

And, I am very grateful.

Our Home

Every single time I walk in the door, I have a feeling of great appreciation.

I just LOVE our home.

And, I am grateful.

Allen's Help in the Kitchen

Allen helps a lot.

This morning he made a delicious smelling soup.

And, he cleaned up, doing all the dishes.

He grinds the wheat and slices the bread.

He will often mop and sweep the floor.

I'm lucky.

And, very grateful.

New Friends

It's great to have old friends; long-time friends.

But at our age, it's also pretty valuable to have friends that we just met.

And, I am grateful.

HEALTH, HEALTH, HEALTH!

What can I say that I haven't already said.

I am so thankful for my health.

Ysterday we saw Jennifer, a marvelous, good, cheery person.

But, she has spasms...so badly....it's hard to watch her body as it shakes and wiggles and has spasms.

Not only is it hard on her, but it is very painful for her.

She is in a very bad way.

My heart just aches for her.

So, it makes me realize how grateful I am for good health........

Bright Sunny Mornings

I'm grateful to live where most of the days are sunny and pleasant.

Because I'm in a BIG downer right now,

I am grateful the weather outside is beautiful.

It does lift my sunken spirits somewhat.

Prayer

Sometimes when I get discouraged and feel like no one understands,

I turn to Heavenly Father....

I pour my soul out to him.

And, I know HE listens.

I am grateful.

Convenience

It's the day before turkey day.

I was doing some baking/cooking.

And, I needed some hot water...it was taking FOREVER to get hot water to the kitchen sink....

And, then, I was HUMBLED.

....I remembered the pioneers; heating the water, plucking the turkey, etc. etc. etc.

I felt so small and humbled and appreciative.

It made me grateful for so many things.

And, I feel grateful indeed......

A Companion

Even though I'm quite solitary, I love having someone to share my life with.

we have had struggles, disagreements, challenges a plenty,

But, how I love having someone around all the time.

Water

I'm looking out the window at my droopy flowers, and it makes me realize how essential

WATER is to every living thing.

Right now, we have plenty of it.

And, I am grateful.

Ability to Read and Write

I so take it for granted.

But, I am grateful I can read and write.

Peace in My Corner of the World

The world is a war zone.

Yesterday, there were mass murderings in Paris; the city is totally on edge and people are terrorized.

So, I am grateful for my little corner of the word where there is peace in the valley.

Sadly, as I get older, I get less and less social.

I just want to be home.

If I go somewhere, even shopping in town, I am always in a hurry to GET HOME.

I'm kind of obsessed with it,

Bananas!

I absolutely LOVE bananas...

I eat one almost every day.

Such a great way to start a morning...

I can't imagine someone not loving this tasty fruit.

It's fun to try new recipes....

That is, if they taste good.

I'm very grateful for good food that is home-made and healthy.

Monday mornings...

I always have a long list of

to-dos.

So, I like to get up and get going.

I know others don't like Mondays,

But, I am always grateful.

Our Church Calling

Allen and I serve as Baptismal Coordinators; it's a fancy term for mopper-uppers and laundry-doers.

Yesterday, there were 18 baptisms, so that's a lot of clothing to wash....a lot of white jumpsuits.

And, men are just getting bigger and bigger....so it's a couple of full loads each month.

We share the duties with other couples and it has been a great blessing to get to know the other couples.

Oh, yes, I am very grateful.

My Three Grandsons: Eli, Miles, Calder

I can't believe I didn't take even one picture in the 24 hours we were there.

But, they are delightful, noisy, active, lively, loud boys.

And, I am grateful.

Allen's Help!

I decided to make bread this morning...

It's pretty easy with a wheat grinder and bread maker.

But, the clean-up is a pit.

And, today, Allen ground the wheat and cleaned up the bread mixer.

Hooray for husbands.

And, I am grateful.

Blue Skies

I recently met a woman who had just moved here from the MidWest.

She hate winters and wanted to be where the SUN SHINES - a lot.

Well, she moved to the right place.

I'm totally with her....

I love being where the sun shines....a lot.

We are on Coronado Island....the Navy base to be exact...it is so beautiful and peaceful here.

This morning at 8, we heard the bugler play a wakeup call.

Shortly thereafter, the Star Spangled Banner was played.  I was so moved by the beauty of the moment as we gazed out towards the ocean.

It was a beautiful moment and I was grateful.

St George

Yesterday we were out running errands.

The afternoon was absolutely PERFECT....warm, but not hot; a teeny breeze, but not windy.

It was so delightful and it made me so appreciate living here.

I'm very grateful for St George, Utah.

A Car

Today, as we drove along the freeway, a man was standing by the side of the road hitchhiking.

It occurred to me that a car is something I often take for granted.

And, I was so overwhelmingly grateful to have reliable transportation.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for a job, which has allowed us to have cars in our married life.

I am grateful.

A Living Prophet

During conference yesterday, I felt the distinct feeling overcome me that

THOMAS S MONSON

was the prophet.

It was such a warm, enveloping feeling.

He is old, feeble, not in good health.

But, I felt love for such a wonderful man who has dedicated his entire life to being the Lord's servant.  The feeling was rare, and that made it the more precious...it was so fleeting, but it was REAL.

And, I was grateful for that momentary testimony.

Can I Ever Say it Often Enough

Our dear Amy's mother has

the dreaded C word.

She got more bad news this week.

It's worse than they thought.

So, their family is troubled.

Which puts me in a funk.

And, reminds me how great it is to have


GOOD HEALTH.

And, I am grateful.

Eyesight

Allen's eye surgery has reminded us both of the wonder of vision.

And, I am grateful.

Inspiring Talks in Church

Today's talk by the high councilman was so meaty and helpful to me, in particular.

He spoke about the Fall and its importance to the Plan of Salvation.

Other churches see it as a bad thing, but in our church, we recognize that is part of the Plan and was essential.  Also, that Eve was very wise to partake of the fruit as she realized its significance in eternity.

I enjoyed it and was grateful I had gone.

Peace

There is so much war and horror and ugliness in the world right now.

While I am in a tiny little town where I look out a window and see brilliant blue sky, green trees, hear the sounds of a Saturday morning in the campground, and

I am so very grateful.

Eyesight

Allen's eyeoperationa makes me realize even more how wonderful it is to SEE.

And, I am grateful.

A Good Night's Rest

Some nights are better than others.

So, I'm grateful when I can get a really good night's sleep.

Allen's Successful Eye Surgery

 He was nervous to have it, but Dr. Chris Gee assured him it would be fine.

So far, it seems to be.

A Washing Machine

Once a month, we do the laundry from the Stake Baptisms.


There are a lot of them.

So, that means washing a lot of white baptism jump suits...both men and kids.

I'm just grateful for an automatic washer and dryer.....

Mornings when I Just Chill

Usually I get up to go exercise pretty early,

but lately, I've just been relaxing and taking it easy.

Today, I made bread.

I used a bread maker which did all the hard work for me.

The tragedy is that things are probably much worse now than at the time this story takes place.  But his book demonstrates the resiliency of women in trying circumstance.

I'm trying to not buy chips any more.  I've given up soda.

Being Born in America

Man, the world is in a terrible mess....

Our Grandsons' Missions

Stockton and Landon will be back in the US in two days.

It will be great to see them.

I'm thankful they worked hard to finish their missions and that they are returning with honor.

They are good young men.

Eysight

I now have floaters in both my right and left eye.

They are definitely annoying and bothersome.

But, at least I can still SEE....

And, of that, I am grateful.

The Temple Being So Close

It's great to be able to drive to the temple in about 12 minutes...

It means I can go early in the morning and get out fairly early.

I can do initiatory, sealing or a session and it's not an all-day event.

Of that, I am grateful.

A Washing Machine in my Home

That may sound a little ridiculous.

But, we have been living out of a camper/trailer for a month.

So, we take the laundry down the little hill to the office.

It's not hard, but it's inconvenient and it gets pretty expensive.

Thus making me grateful I have those appliances right in my own home!

The SUnshine

It's rained quite a bit here in Manila.

We are leaving today to head to St George for two weeks,

But, we'll be back...

So, here we are in the teeny town of Manila, Utah.

Population about 900.

It's remote; internet is slow.

BUT, it works, and we can stay connected using our devices;

Phone, computer, tablet, etc.

Food and the Ease of Preparation

I am often reminded how accessible our food supply is.

I don't have to cook over a wood stove.

I don't have to go out and kill the chicken, then pluck its feathers.

I'm not even growing and harvesting food any more.

I just buy the food.

And, maybe quickly prepare it.

And, I am grateful.

Seeing Colors

I've never really thought about it, but yesterday my cousin, Margo mentioned that her son-in-law is color blind.

He wanted to fly his own plane, but can't because of his color blindness.

My Cousin, Margo

There were only three girl Gee cousins.

About every other year or so, we see Mel and Margo.

I love her happy disposition, her happy smile, her positive personality.

It's a joy for me to be with them.

Peace for Now

Many places in the world are at war.

I hate war (and cancer,)

But, WAR is HELL.

No one  ever ever wins.

Lives shattered, towns destroyed, men and women coming home disfigured, and scarred for life - emotionally, physically, and psychologically.

War is about selfishness and greed and power.

At this exact moment in my life, I am in a peaceful setting, in a peaceful place, with mostly peace in my soul.

And, I am grateful.

Rhubarb Desserts

Since being in Manila, Utah, two people have given us Rhubarb desserts.

Janeil Larsen andher granddaughter made the most delicious rhubarb pie EVER!  Man, it was tasty.

Last night, Mikayla brought over a rhubarb, blueberry crumble; so very tasty.......

I take it for granted.

I forget how marvelous it is to have electricity.

We meet some interesting people while we stay in the KOA campground in Manilla.

All around us faithful people are giving up on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It's so confusing, distressing, and sorrowful.

And that makes me appreciate even more the fact that Allen remains steady and strong.

We go to church when we are traveling and it's fun to meet the Saints all over.

Well, said to say, the Gees are leaving today...what a bummer.

It's funny because I don't even listen to music every day.

Health Insurance

I'm sort of naive about a lot of things.

Growing up, my dad went off to work, came home, did church and civic responsibilities.

There was always food on the table and for school some new clothes.

He drove mostly old cars and there was nothing fancy about his or my mother's clothes.

When I had to go to the doctor, mom took us.

She also took us to the dentist when needed.

I just took all of that for granted.

Even when Allen got a job, I didn't really understand the true value of HEALTH insurance.

But, NOW I get it.

And, I am so grateful we have it.

It's a HUGE deal in our country right now.

I'll be forever grateful for Allen's job at Ricks College and the health benefits that came with that job.

Oh, YES, I am very grateful indeed.

My Children and Their Jobs

They may not like them.

They may wish they had gone into something else.

They may be discontent.

But, at this moment, they all have jobs.

And, I am grateful.

Fresh fruit from the Tree

I've been eating apricots for a lot of days now.

In fact, I think it has affected my stomach and other areas of my body because I have eaten so much.

But, it's so healthy to have fresh fruit.

And, I am grateful.

Relief Society Camaderie

Last night the RS sisters came to my home to make jam.

There were 11 of us.

Sadly, I would not have gone if the event had not been held in my home.

But, there was so much laughter, fun, getting acquainted, camaderie.

Sitting around in our kitchen, I felt such LOVE and sister hood.

I would have been sorry to miss it.

And, that would have been foolish.

So, I am very grateful that Jessica asked to have it in our home.

Not Being a Field Laborer

Yesterday I worked out in the yard.

I will do so again today.

I did a lot of bending over, stooping, being on my knees.

It was hard, hard work.

I thought of people picking strawberries, lettuce, carrots, etc.

And, I felt a mound of gratitude for them.

I was only outside for awhile; I'll only be outside today for awhile.

And, it made me grateful for those who do that hard, back-breaking work.

It made me even more grateful that that is not my job.

Oh, I am grateful.

Being Born of Godly Parents

I was so blessed to have the family I did.

I am so very grateful.

Thoughtful,

Generous,

Gospel-Centered.

And, I am very grateful.

The Lesson Given in Relief Society

I was having some semi-bitter feelings over a situation in our family.

It was eating away at me.

The lesson in RS yesterday was all about serving and not giving in to feelings of being tired of serving;  we should serve with all our hearts, bear one another's burdens, help others at whatever the cost in our precious time.

It was like the lesson was directed towards me....and me only.

I had actually driven home, but turned around and went back to RS.

And, then, THAT lesson.  I so needed to hear it...even more importantly, I need to act on it.

Will I still get bitter sometimes.

Of course.

Will I still be upset at this situation.

Yes, unfortunately I will.

BUT, if I can just reflect on the movie clip we saw, remember the scripture reference, it should help me to be more willing to serve in the way I should.

And, I'm grateful for that lesson.

Church Calling

Allen and I are - along with 2 other couples - the Stake Baptism Coordinators.

The title is a big  fancy way of saying that we

Mop up, and do the laundry.

But, I love the people we work with; they are inspiring, and it's always a fun Saturday on the first of each month!

My Brother, Erin Preston

He is the most thoughtful brother on THE planet.

Man, he and his wife are just so great.

He just sent us a box of chocolates as a belated mother's day gift wince we were in Germany on Mother's Day.  He is always doing good stuff like that.

And, I am so grateful.

What in the HECK is WRONG WITH ME!

I just sent out a birthday card for Kristi's birthday and her birthday is tomorrow;

this really bugs me that I would be so stupid.


I've got to get over this.

So to turn this into a thankful post,

I'm grateful I don't do this more often!

Allen Caught a FISH!

He's waited almost a year.

he's been so excited.

Yesterday was a dud and he was pretty disappointed.

But, TODAY, he caught 4 large kokanee salmon and he is one happy camper.

Which means I am also happy.

And, I am grateful.

PHONES!

I just had to make a call about an appointment.

And, as I was hanging up, I thought,

That is just so convenient.

And, I am grateful.

Space to Work

I love this little office...

there's plenty of room for my computer and other necessary "Stuff."

It's bright and cheery when I come in the mornings.

And, I'm very grateful.

Not Having a Drug Addiction

Man, when I hear the stories of some of our friends and their children, it makes me so very grateful for the church and its stance on drugs.

I know that church members take drugs and get addicted, but so far, I haven't had that problem.

I have lots of things to work on, but drug addiction is not one of them.

And, I am grateful.

America

I hope I never take America for granted.

But, traveling abroad is always a good reminder of just how wonderful

AMERICA is.

And, I am grateful.

Our Beautiful Yard

Look what was waiting for us when we got home on Thursday night:

When we left exactly one month ago, this was just green, green, green.

No pink evident at all.

So, this was a very fun surprise.

And, I am grateful.

HOME Safe!

I wonder who first said,

There's no place like home.

Because it's so very true.

I'm grateful for the grand adventure we just had.

But, man, I love coming home to our lovely home with its incredible yard which Allen has worked so very hard to beautify...

Man, what would we have done without our dear daughter, Kristi D?

She has been immeasurably helpful on our trip in Germany and then in Holland.

She is the most pleasant traveling companion....always cheerful and amenable to anything.  She's always flexible when plans change at any time.

It has been the most wonderful blessing to have her with us.

I am beyond grateful.

Even Floors

This might sound like a strange one, but we are staying in a home where all the floors are uneven, bumpy, etc.

It makes me grateful for the floors in my home that are mostly flat and even.

It's a little thing, but I'm grateful.

I've been struggling with a cold/cough for three weeks.

The guy was on the elliptical machine behind me.

He was going at a very fast pace.

I wanted to quit, but he was working so hard, as were others around me;

lifting weights,

biking,

treadmilling,

So I soldiered on.

And, I was grateful for their inspiration.

Another Day With Lots to Do

I just love that there is another day...

to run errands,

make phone calls,

clean something,

make something,

I'm so grateful for another good day.

A Little Bit of Money

A neighbor, with hat in hand, and overwhelmingly humbled, came today to borrow some money.

Not a lot.

Just a little.

But, I was thankful we had it to loan.

We do not have a lot of money compared to many of our friends.

But, we have

SOME.

And, today - and every day - I was grateful for that.

Calm Waters - For the Moment

I even hesitate to be grateful for it....

Things can change so quickly.

BUT, at this moment, things are going okay.

Of course, there are challenges.

Of course, our children have some situations.

BUT, for this exact moment, there are no dramatics, histrionics, overwhelming problems.

And, I am so very grateful.

Neighbors - Iveys and Ures

Sunday afternoon...

Late afternoon.

Doorbell rings....plus a little soft knock.

Standing there in the doorway, two little neighbor girls with a plate of chocolate cookies....not just any chocolate cookies, but made by Andrea; best cook in the neighborhood...

So sweet.

And tasty.

Also on Sunday afternoon, the Ures brought over some grapefruit and lemons, fresh from a relative's tree.

And, I am grateful to have such generous, kind, thoughtful neighbors.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the goodness of people.

Food

I've been trying to not eat after 7 p.m.

It's very hard and sometimes I just don't make it.

Like last night...

I was so hungry.

So, I had some popcorn, a little Cutie, and a couple of tastes of yogurt whips.

It wasn't a lot.  It was just a little.

But, it was easy, fast, and available.

I'm so thankful that when I'm hungry, I have access to food.

Oh, yes, I'm grateful for food.

My Thoughtful Daughters.

Man, I was blessed in the good daughter department.

And, I'm so grateful.

Neighbors and Friends

Last night I was relaxing on my new birthday gift -

a Hammock.

When I saw through the window four of my favorite people:

It was the Stout family - minus Jason.

And, they came to say Happy Birthday with a plate of cookies.

There are so many people like that in our neighborhood...

And, I am grateful.

My Granddaughter, Janessa

These post-it notes were scattered all around.  I just put them on the door to take a picture and to have a good reminder of what a dear granddaughter I have.  I'll probably leave them there for about three years.

Yesterday was my 71st birthday.

Early in the morning, I got up to go exercise.  On the floor leading into the kitchen were the three large white papers a the top...saying there were 71 one things Janessa loved about me.

Then, scattered all around the kitchen/living area were 71 post-it notes.  Totally made me cry; then laugh.  Throughout the day, I would discover these little notes and it was just so FUN!

What a thoughtful gift!

What a girl!

And, I am grateful.

Time to Rest

I've had a terrible cold/cough/etc. for over a week.

It just keeps hanging on...

I have places to go, things to do, but I feel weighted down and exhausted.

So, today after the family left,

I was so grateful to be able to just lie in my room for awhile.

Just relax.

It felt good.

Even though I don't.

The books I listen to have multiple characters, so it requires a very talented person to use a variety of voices, inflections, dialects; and then to remember them all!

Man, it is just so fun to listen to a well-recorded book on tape with an artful reader.

And, I am grateful.

Allen and the Trees

Wherever we have moved, Allen has planted lots of trees.

LOTS OF TREES.

In fact, at each place, he's ended up having to take trees OUT!

But, my goodness, they make a home so lovely.

And, I am grateful for Allen and the trees he has planted over the years.

Of course, when Allen plants the trees, they are little, scrawny, puny, teensy, stick-like.  We have been gone from this home for 10 years.  And believe me, the trees looked nothing like this!

Medicines...

I don't take a lot of medicines.

I don't take a lot of pills.

But, when I need something,

I'm so glad it's available.

And, I am thankful.

Our Children

Lots of people our age are having children move in with them....or grandchildren....or entire families.

In fact, we have a granddaughter living with us right now.

But, it's okay.

I'm proud of our children for trying hard to be independent.

Some have financial struggles,  all could use some help.

BUT, they are making it, living on their own.

And, I am grateful.

Flowers in the Spring

I love flowers; I can never get quite enough of them.

This year we have quite a few pots of flowers around the yard, in contrast to last year when we didn't put out flowers until September.

So, my heart is filled with JOY when I see them.

And, I am grateful.

Home-made Bread

About 13 years ago, Linda Ricks showed me how to make her bread recipe.

So, we paid bucko bucks for a bread machine and wheat grinder.

Since that time, I've made probably hundreds of loaves of bread....given away dozens of loaves of bread, and eaten much of it.

It is so delicious.

Freshly ground wheat; yummy morning toast.

What's not to love?

And, I am grateful.

Books on Tape

I love to listen while I drive around town or exercise.

Just finished listening to this today; Fabulous.  I didn't know anything about Truman;
he was a very honorable person and a man of integrity.

Not my favorite, but my grandsons, Eli and Miles, asked me to read this, so I will listen since I'm not really getting into the book.  Listening will be much easier and I will jus listen as I drive around town.

It's just a great way to get through a long book.

It's a great way to get through a long exercise session.

Holy cow!  I do love me some Dickens; this is a great story with such interesting characters,
including the kindest of women...Amy Dorrit.

Let's face it;

Books on tape are great.

And, I am grateful.

Scanners

Man, sometimes technology is so amazing.

So, here's a lovely picture...old, fading, but precious.

What can I do with it so it won't continue to deteriorate?

Why, digitize it of course.

Scan it into the computer.

Put it on a website where it will be for eons to come.

I have hundreds of pictures and documents.

I'm scanning away.

Preserving these little suckers...

The Ability to Read

I am watching a movie based on a Charles Dickens' novel.

One of the main players cannot read.

He wants to read very badly, but cannot.

It's a skill that I definitely take for granted.

But, I am so very thankful to be able to read.

Music

Some days I forget to listen to music.

But, I do love and appreciate music.

On Sunday evening, Gardner Gee sang for us.

Man, I do love to hear him sing.

I love Allen's music.

Allen shows Chloe and Cody how to strum a guitar.  Notice the look on Cody's face.  Priceless!

And, I am grateful.

Stephanie and Gardner

Stephanie is a saint.

Pure and Simple.

Gardner is pretty close by also.

They invite us over for dinner frequently.

It's so thoughtful and kind.

People in My Life

It's so amazing when you think about

the people a person meets over a lifetime.

Cousins, Annette from Germany; Marie from France.  They were guests at Stephanie and Gardner's last night for dinner; such amazingly interesting women.

So many different kinds and

so many different personality types.

And, for all the people I have met over a lifetime.

I am grateful.

Mornings

I like mornings.

Sometimes it's hard to get up and get going.

But, at least I can.

And, I am grateful.

Working Internet

For about two months, out internet was sporadic and sometimes even non-existent.

I was BEYOND frustrated.

So, when we changed companies and it now works...

Holy Moly, am I grateful.

Oh yes indeed.

Running Hot Instant Water

I'm very grateful for:

In this day and age, it seems like a for-granted-thing.

The View From My Window

The tree is bursting with little tiny green leaves.

There are three flower pots with colorful spring flowers.

I can hear the birds.

The sun is trying to penetrate the clouds.

The kids have walked by on their way to school...

It is peaceful.

And, I am grateful.

Pictures

There are so many events that I forget.

Places I've been that I can't remember.

Events that slip my mind.

And, that is where the value of pictures plays such a significant part.

I love that pictures can remind me of something I had long forgotten or perhaps didn't even recall because I was too young.

I'm just very grateful for pictures.

And, here's a great one.

I'm about two years old, headed to Germany for two years.  This is the passport picture of my mother, older brother and MOI.

Oh, Yes, I am grateful for pictures.

Allen's Jobs Over the Years

Yesterday I heard about another person losing his job.

That's two men in our ward....

in one week..

Far too many.

Jobs here are scarce.

They are low-paying.

And, it makes me so grateful for Allen's job over many, many years.

He never had to come home to say he had lost his job.  He may not have always liked it, but he did it and went back day after day.  So now, we have a small pension because of it.

AND....

Oh, yes, I am grateful.

The Sounds of Children Playing

We live next door to the URES.

This is Joshua Ure; he's in my Primary class.  I adore this great, good kid.

They are a marvelous family with four little children.

They are also the most well-behaved children on the planet.

And, they love to play outdoors.

They jump on the trampoline, ride their scooters, play games.

And, I love the sounds of them playing.

I am grateful.

Books on Tape

I love to learn.

I hate to exercise.

BUT, when I combine those two;

it's all good.

Right now, I'm listening to a book about Harry S Truman, whom I knew nothing about.  He's very inspiring and a good man.

So, it's great to be able to listen to books as I exercise or drive around town.

And, I'm grateful.

Mobility

Yesterday I talked to a lady who had a serious fall and shattered many bones in her foot and ankle.

The pain was unbearable.

Now, six weeks later she is feeling somewhat better,

BUT, it's very hard for her to get around..she uses a sort-of leg scooter in which the broken leg rests on a pad.

It's awkward; it takes her forever to do just the smallest thing.

Listening to her made me realize; once again,

how grateful I am for mobility...

Oh, yes, thank you, Heavenly Father, that at this point in my life I can MOVE and WALK and have the use of my legs....

Good People

Over the years, we have met so many people.

And, I realize what a great blessing people are in our lives.

Today, I'm thankful for my orthodontist...

He is a PRINCE.

And, that just happens to be his name.

Dr. Prince.

Ha. Ha.

I am grateful.

Flowers That Bloom in the Spring

They make my heart happy...

It's so beautiful to see them every day outside my window....

HEALTH

Yesterday, we were in a public place where we overheard a very loud man talking to his friends.

A large portion of his conversation centered on his health -  or lack thereof; operations, medications, etc.

And, I was reminded, as I often am, of what a great blessing HEALTH is.

I am so very grateful.

Eating Out

I love to eat out.

My mom didn't really like it, or maybe she just got pickier as she got older.

For one thing, I think taste buds decline with age, so the food never tasted that good to her.

But, to me, I just love someone else doing the cooking and the cleaning.

So, when we eat out, I'm very grateful.

HOME, Sweet Home!

I love our home.

It's just COMfortable...

and suitable.

And pleasant.

And FINE.

And paid for.

Oh, yes, I'm grateful.

From Miles - Clay

Oh, he's a modeler this guy.

He loves to play and model with clay....

He's extremely creative with his clay and it makes him happy.

So, it makes me happy also.

Yesterday he made a water molecule out of clay and an atom out of clay.....

Oh, he loves that clay.

And, that makes me grateful.

Whenever I stay with the Justin Hackworth family in Provo, Utah,

I get to sleep in the guest/baby room.

It's nice of them to move the toddler out and let me sleep in there.

But, oh man, what a treat!

It was the comfiest beds EVER!

And, I am grateful.

From Miles - A Pack-n-Play

Whenever we visit Justin and Amy, we take over a child's bedroom.

So, it's good there is a little portable bed for Calder to sleep in.

We have his cozy warm room

I don't do it often.

Eli likes to do it.

I looked out the window and what did I see?

Green buds forming on the big front tree.

There's a bid in the top of the tree.

I hear their songs in the mornings.

I just planted some flowers.

I put them on family search.

Additionally, it's a great resource to find my relatives and to learn about them.

It's improved 150% since the days of our two missions.
